BRIDAL MAKEUP TRENDS 2008
PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP ARTIST
SUSAN BRADFIELD
Your makeup plays an important role in complimenting your features, dress and accessories. Susan is a professional makeup artist and is a regional artist for celebrity makeup artist Daniel Sandler. She has worked on celebrity photo shoots, films and London Fashion Week.
BACK TO BASICS
Everything starts with a flawless complexion. For longer lasting foundation, use a primer. The Daniel Sandler Retexturising Face Primer (£20) is perfect. For a natural look, I prefer a light, dewy foundation, such
as the Daniel Sandler Mineral Tint (£20), applied with
a foundation brush. Concealer is essential to cover imperfections, along with a light dusting of a loose powder, to set the perfect base.
It is important that your makeup compliments the look and theme of your wedding dress – what wedding dresses and makeup will we be wearing in 2008?
GLAMOROUS FASHIONS OF THE 50’S
At the 2008 bridal fashion shows , designers such as Pronovias graced brides with the elegance and refinement inherited from the great designers of the 1940’s and 1950’s. Gowns have dress and coat combinations and details such as bows, belts and vintage inspired fabrics.
The makeup: Glamorous
Flawless complexion – follow the ‘back to basics’ guide
Top tip: apply your foundation with a foundation brush
Muted brown/ cream eyeshadows – lighter colours on the lid, darker in the contour area, blend well
Top tip: use matte eyeshadows, applied with professional brushes
Liquid eyeliner - for confident artistes or a pencil for a soft focus finish
Top tip: use a long lasting formula to ensure it looks perfect all day
Big lashes – curl your lashes and apply several coats of mascara
Top tip: if your lashes are short, individual lashes will look great
Bold lip colour – use a lipliner to avoid your lipstick bleeding
Top tip: matte colours work well with this look
21ST CENTURY PRINCESSES
21st Century Princesses’ was also a strong theme at Pronovias– voluminous organza, taffeta and tulle skirts were combined with sweetheart necklines and figure skimming bodices.
The makeup: The modern bride
Stronger eye colours compliment this look – blue, pink and purple (don’t pick colours that are too bright)
Top tip: apply the colour on the eyelid and blend well
Line the lashes with a darker shade – such as charcoal
Top tip: use a matte eyeshadow and an eyeliner brush for a soft look
Pinky nude lips and cheeks balance the look
Top tip: apply the blusher on the apple of the cheek for a pretty flush
A perfect foundation
Top tip: take your time to blend your foundation well
